A HISTORIC GESTURE: BUENOS AIRES IS LIT UP IN THE CZECH COLORS! 💙❤️🤍
We are pleased to share some deeply moving and meaningful news with our entire beloved community. To mark the 108th anniversary of the founding of the independent Czechoslovak state (Czech Republic National Day) on October 28, 2026, the brotherhood between our nations will be on full display in the heart of our beloved city of Buenos Aires.
Thanks to the joint efforts of Kamila Hrabáková, consul at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires, and Ricardo Basovnik, president of the Czech Community “Český dům” in Argentina, with the General Directorate of Communities and Migrants of the City of Buenos Aires—headed by Santos Gastón Juan—and the City’s Undersecretary of International Relations, this significant tribute to mark our national holiday has been confirmed.
Next Wednesday, October 28, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., three of Buenos Aires’ most iconic monuments will be illuminated in the colors of the Czech Republic:

🚀 Space Tower (formerly City Tower, City Park)
🪐 The Planetarium (Palermo)
This generous and meaningful gesture by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires not only adds luster to our national holiday, but also pays tribute to the history, contributions, and enduring presence of our community in the country.
We invite all families, friends, and anyone else who would like to join us to visit these monuments during the hours listed to share this unforgettable moment together, take photos, and proudly celebrate the bond that unites us.

At Český Dům, we continue to grow and add new spaces where we can come together. We recently finished building an impressive 5 x 12-meter wall 🧱 in our beer garden, and we want to turn it into a great collaborative project: a mural or graffiti piece that celebrates our roots, Czech culture, and the spirit of our community. ❤️✨
🎨 We are looking for artistic proposals that incorporate iconic symbols of the Czech Republic: the Charles Bridge, Charles IV, the brewing tradition 🍻, historical coats of arms, Moravian identity, wine, beer, and the mystique that unites us.
📋 PROJECT TIMELINE
Deadline for submitting proposals: December 15, 2026
🚀 Start of construction: January 1, 2027
⏱️ Estimated completion time: 60 calendar days
📩 HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
1️⃣ Submit your sketch: Create a preliminary proposal (individual or group) that reflects your vision for the wall ✏️🖼️.
2️⃣ Breakdown of materials and costs: While the call for participation appeals to collaboration and a sense of attachment to the institution, please specify the necessary supplies (paint, spray paint, sealants) 🖌️🪣 and any estimated operational costs. The Executive Committee will evaluate and cover the costs necessary to carry out the project.

Czech Heritage Program · Masaryk University
The Summer School is an educational experience for compatriots with Czech roots who wish to explore their cultural heritage, and for anyone interested in the Czech Republic.
The program combines classes in Czech history, geography, culture, and language with cultural activities, three days in Prague, a tour of Bohemia, and visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Applicants were eligible for a scholarship covering 50 percent of the tuition.

There was Czech music and dance, with the opportunity to join in a traditional dance performed by the Conjunto Sokol, as well as a talk by Professor Petr Táborský.
